WHO AM I?
Information about me

Being born in a small town in Estonia, I entered the theater field almost by accident when I joined a theater studio in Tallinn in the late ’90s. These were my final years of high school, a time when young people typically make their first professional choices. Theater classes had a profound influence on me, and after graduating from high school in Tallinn, I successfully passed the entrance exams for the Theater Academy in Saint Petersburg in 2001.

After graduating in 2006, I worked simultaneously as both an actress and a director. Following the birth of my daughter in 2013, I shifted my focus primarily to directing and teaching.

In 2020, I returned with my family to Tallinn, my hometown, where I staged a performance at the same theater where I took my first steps. I see this as a beautifully symbolic full-circle moment in my life.

My interest in understanding the workings of the human psyche has led me to pursue a new field of study. I am now training to become a psychotherapist, specializing in the Gestalt approach, and I am exploring ways to integrate theater practice with psychology.

I am passionate about creating both classic dramatic productions and modern hybrid formats, constantly seeking innovative ways to approach art.

In dramatic theater, one of the most important components for me is the opportunity to delve into the philosophical underpinnings and archetypal structure of a story. Additionally, physical expression is a significant area of personal interest in any performance.

I am always drawn to uncovering the contrasts, shadows, and non-social aspects of a character or theme in order to “reclaim” these repressed elements of the psyche.

The main principle of the Gestalt approach is being present in the moment, the so-called “here and now.” This closely aligns with the theatrical concept that true theater becomes a genuine experience only through presence in the moment.
